NEW!
We are offering a Combo Rate for the Songwriter Boot Camp and it's affiliated CMS conference. This will enable you to purchase a registration for the single day Songwriter Boot Camp on Thursday and the 2-day CMS (or TMS) on Friday and Saturday for a special rate. The Combo Rate is only offered on the Songwriter Boot Camp registration form, you will not find it on the CMS@theChapel, Thriving Musician Summit, or CMS@Overlake online registration forms.

WHAT & WHY
The Songwriter Boot Camp is an intensive day of workshops and clinics for serious songwriters as well as folks who desire to improve their craft by learning from the best in the industry.

HOW DOES THE BOOT CAMP WORK?

Show up in the morning...
to register, get a name badge and find out which group you are in...

General Session / Keynote Address
We will begin the day with a general session. After the general session, we will move into various elective workshops...

Elective Workshops
These will include everything from writing great melodies, to copyright info, to the benefits of co-writing, to song arranging, and much, much more...

Lunch on your own...

Critiquing Sessions
After lunch, the groups will go into 'Critiquing Sessions.' We will break up into groups of around 20.
The song that you send in (read "How to Submit a Song" below), will be critiqued by a few of our clinicians. The entire group will listen to each recorded song, afterward, the clinicians will give a constructive critique. We have found that it is helpful for songwriters to listen to the critiques of all the songs, as there is much information to be gleaned.

Songwriters - Acoustic Session
Come spend the remainder of the Boot Camp relaxing and enjoying an informal concert performed by the clinicians, as well as some special guests. (at our CA conference, we will have a Thursday night concert).

FOR WHOM
Unsigned songwriters, independent artists, aspiring writers...
Registrants will have an opportunity to have a song critiqued by one of our clinicians.
Each registrant will be assigned to a group for critiques.

HOW TO SUBMIT A SONG
**It is not necessary to submit a song in order to register. Please be sure that your song is submitted 4-6 weeks prior to the Songwriter Boot Camp you attend.
Registrants will be asked to submit one (1) song on a CD or an MP3 via email for review.

NOTE: If you are unable to submit a song in advance, you can still bring one with you on a CD to the event. You just won't get the advance listen by one of our clinicians. If you bring a CD with you, please bring 10 copies of your lyrics printed for folks to follow along.

Here's what we need...
* one (1) song, whichever you feel is your best song. It's not necessary to have a professionally produced demo, but strive to make it as good as you can.
* a lead sheet and/or chord chart with all of the lyrics
* be sure to include your contact info
* email mp3 files or aac files to cmspro@mac.com (minimum: 128 kbps bit rate, 44.1 kHz sample rate)
* mail your CD with 1 song to CMS Productions * 4227 S. Meridian Suite C-275 * Puyallup, WA 98373 * ATTN: Boot Camp (remember to include lyrics).

TYPE OF SONG TO SUBMIT...
You may choose whether you'd like to submit a congregational worship song or an artist performance song.
Songs will be critiqued on the following elements:

CONGREGATIONAL WORSHIP SONG
1. Theological Accuracy
2. Originality
3. Accessiblity
4. Singability
5. Song Structure

ARTIST PERFORMANCE SONG
1. Theological Accuracy
2. Originality
3. Song Structure
4. Style/Genre

REVIEW & CRITIQUE OF SONG
Your song will be reviewed ahead of time by our panel. Each song submitted will be listened to both in advance, as well as at the event. During the event, each song will be assigned to 2 of our instructors... one of whom will have heard it prior to the event (that's the plan, anyway). These pros will give a live critique, committing around 10 minutes to each song... this includes listening time, so don't submit a 9 minute song... you'll lose out on valuable time.

We will be assigning registrants to their critiquing instructors.

WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU...
Yourself, a notepad & pen, an open ear and heart.

PLEASE DO NOT BRING PRESS PACKS OR DEMO DISCS with you... Each song submitted will be given to each clinician so they will have a chance to hear each and every registrant who submitted a song.
If a songwriter happens to 'strike a chord' with a particular clinician during critiques, the clinician has the option to extend the invitation for a 'solicitation' of more material...
THANKS for your understanding on this issue... It's not fair to expect our clinicians to return home with 100 CDs in their carry-on luggage.
